メタンフェタミン（英語: methamphetamine, methylamphetamine）は、アンフェタミンの窒素原子上にメチル基が置換した構造の有機化合物である。
間接型アドレナリン受容体刺激薬として中枢神経興奮作用はアンフェタミンより強く、強い中枢興奮作用および精神依存性、薬剤耐性がある[2]。
日本では商品名ヒロポンで販売されていたが[3]、1951年（昭和26年）6月30日の覚醒剤取締法公布以降は「限定的な医療・研究用途での使用」のみに厳しく制限されている
メタンフェタミンはこの取締法におけるフェニルメチルアミノプロパンであり、日本で薬物乱用されている覚醒剤である[5]。
歴史
1888年（明治21年）に日本の薬学者長井長義が『麻黄研究物質第33号』として合成して、1893年（明治26年）に薬学雑誌に発表した[6]。1919年（大正8年）に緒方章が結晶化に成功した。

LSDは1938年11月にスイスのバーゼルにあるA・Gサンド社（現・ノバルティス）の研究室でスイス人化学者アルバート・ホフマン（Albert Hofmann, 1906年1月11日 - 2008年4月29日）によって合成された。その幻覚剤としての発見は1943年4月16日になされ、これがLSD発見の日とされている。
