トランプ米大統領の支持者で保守系団体「ターニング・ポイント」のチャーリー・カーク代表が１０日、米西部ユタ州の大学で講演中に銃撃され、死亡した。
３１歳だった。
ＣＮＮなどによると、カーク氏は１０日午後（日本時間１１日未明）、同大キャンパスの屋外で、約２０００人の聴衆の前で首を撃たれた。
カーク氏はトランプ氏を熱烈に支持する「ＭＡＧＡ」の代表格として知られる。
ＳＮＳで膨大なフォロワーを持ち、全米の大学などで学生運動を組織することで、若年層の投票行動に劇的な影響を与えてきた保守派の象徴的存在だ。
今月７日には都内で開かれた参政党のイベントに出席し、「トランプ政権誕生の立役者」として講演した。
